Erez Katz
Clarinet
I grew up in Tel Aviv and received my first music lessons from my father who was a double bass player with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. With the clarinet I was lucky to have had the opportunity to study with Israel Zohar, the Philharmonic's bass clarinetist, who was a close family friend and I am still in touch with him today. I was a member of the Young Israeli Philharmonic for 4 years but my career took a different path. Having recently joined the Midcoast Symphony made me realize how much I had missed the experience of playing in an orchestra and how grateful I am for the opportunity to be part of it.
After 3 decades in the technology field I made a full circle to the music world by creating with my wife a new type of synthetic reeds for clarinets and saxophones called EasyReeds. EasyReeds are designed and manufactured here in Maine!
