Viola
I grew up in Southern Oregon and was exposed to classical music from an early age; my mom plays flute in the local symphony and I have been attending her concerts for as long as I can remember. I started playing violin in fifth grade, picked up viola in high school, and never looked back. I loved being part of my high school orchestra and chamber orchestra and played with my mom in the local symphony for a few years before leaving for college.
I played viola in the Oregon State University Symphony while majoring in biology. I then moved to Maine to pursue a double masters degree in marine biology and marine policy. I now work for the state of Maine as part of Maine Coastal Program helping communities plan for climate change and improving public access to our beautiful coast. I took several years off from playing viola but am happy to be back and part of a symphony again.
When I’m not playing viola, I enjoy doing triathlons, rock climbing, and hiking with my husband, as well as hanging out with our cat, Maya.
