MSO's New Executive Director
We are very pleased to welcome Alan Carr as the MSO's Executive Director this month. His experience as an arts administrator, educator, and musician, combined with his commitment to community engagement, makes him an exciting addition to MSO.
He was previously the manager of the Olin Arts Center at Bates College and is managing director of the West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts in New Hampshire. A professional trombonist, he has also served on the music faculty of George Mason University and, most recently, the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
“MSO has a strong artistic foundation and an extraordinary community of musicians and supporters,” Carr said. “I look forward to building on that foundation, deepening relationships throughout the region, and finding new ways to invite people to experience the power of live orchestral music.”
As Executive Director, Carr will work closely with MSO’s Board of Directors, Music Director, musicians, volunteers, and community partners, continuing the leadership of outgoing Executive Director Mike Levine. We wish Mike all the best as he returns to the classroom as a full-time teacher, and thank him for his dedication, advocacy, and belief in what this orchestra can be.
