MSO's More with Midcoast outreach series continues with the final concerts of our 2023-24 classical season.

Pianist Michael Bostock will perform on Saturday, May 18, at the Franco Center in Lewiston. Michael is a senior at Waynflete School in Portland, Maine, and a student of classical piano under Naydene Bowder at the Portland Conservatory of Music. In February 2024, he won 1st Place in Bangor Symphony Orchestra's 43rd Annual Maine High School Concerto Competition, and will be the featured soloist with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra in the Young People's Concerts May 13, playing Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F major, Op. 102: 1. Allegro. Michael was also a 1st Place winner of the 2023 Pine Tree Music Competition. He will play 5 pieces in varying styles at the Franco's Heritage Hall on May 18th during the intermission --roughly 8 p.m.-- of MSO's program "Cityscape, Seascape, Soundscape". This performance was originally scheduled for March 23, but was cancelled for bad weather.

Before the Sunday afternoon concert May 19th at the Orion Performing Arts Center in Topsham, audience members are invited to a pre-concert talk at 1:30 - 2:00 pm. Mary Hunter, Professor of Music Emerita, Bowdoin College, will introduce the music we will play and Tim Kenlan and Billie Jo Brito, who are the featured soloists in the opening piece on the program. This event is free and open to the public, although tickets are required for the MSO concert which follows at 2:30 p.m.
