Jessica Kenlan

Concert IV, 2025-2026 Season
Jessica Kenlan graduated from the Ithaca College School of Music in Ithaca, NY. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance. While at Ithaca, Jessica studied voice with Carol McAmis and worked with world-renowned conductors and educators such as Dr. Janet Galván, Dr. Lawrence Doebler, and Dr. Verna Brummett. She has also worked extensively with John Armstrong, using the Armstrong method of teaching music literacy through handsign solfeggio. She completed her master's degree in vocal pedagogy from the University of Southern Maine School of Music where she studied voice with Bruce Fithian.
Jessica was the featured soprano soloist in the Choral Art Society's performance of John Rutter's Mass of the Children and has been a member of the CAS Singers and Camerata. She sang the role of Adele in the USM opera production of Die Fledermaus. In his review for the Portland Press Herald Christopher Hyde wrote: “The singers were all first-rate, but Jessica Kenlan stole the show as the chambermaid Adele — in the famous “Farewell” trio, the “Laughing Song” at Prince Orlofsky’s ball, and two highly virtuosic solo numbers.” As the winner of the 2013 Lillian Nordica Award, Jessica was honored to perform a solo recital at Nordica Hall in Farmington, Maine. She has also performed for the Rossini Club, and with Opera Maine.
Jessica spent the first ten years of her teaching career as the choral director at Freeport Middle and High Schools, and had a private voice studio. She was also the director of Musica de Filia’s Lyric Choir and assistant director of the MdF Concert Choir. She is currently the music teacher at the William H. Rowe School in Yarmouth.
