Ashwini Kreigh-McNeal started playing the viola in the third grade as part of her school's elective music classes. She then studied privately under Susanna Macomber for the eight years and is now studying with Kirsten Monke. She played in the Coastal Youth Orchestras for three years and subsequently, the USM Youth Ensembles for three years before joining the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra in 2015.
Ashwini is currently a student at Southern Maine Community College as an undecided student, with hopes of pursuing a Culinary Arts degree. In addition to the viola, she has also played piano and tenor saxophone. Her interests include cooking, drawing, writing, and developing ideas for children's books. In her free time she enjoys decorating cakes and she volunteers at the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program. She currently lives in Topsham, with her parents and myriad of pets.
