Orchestral Showcase January 14 and 15

The Midcoast Symphony Orchestra will present its annual orchestra showcase on Saturday and Sunday, January 14 and 15 in Lewiston and Topsham. Music Director Rohan Smith leads the orchestra for this performance.
The entire orchestra will be on stage for Shostakovich’s heroic triumph, the Symphony No. 5 in D minor. The orchestra’s strings will perform the beautiful Adagietto from Mahler’s Fifth Symphony. The orchestra’s brass will shine in the La Pe’ri Fanfare by Dukas, followed by the wind section in Dvorak’s Serenade in D minor.
Saturday night’s concert at the Franco American Heritage Center in Lewiston begins at 7:30pm, and Sunday afternoon’s concert at the Orion Performing Arts Center at Mt. Ararat Middle School in Topsham begins at 2:30pm.
